The man suspected of robbing two Yakima Avenue banks in two hours Tuesday afternoon is set to be arraigned Friday.

Geoffrey Losinger, 56, made his first appearance in Yakima County Superior Court on Wednesday. He remains at the county jail on $200,000 bail.

A police report filed in court shows that he is accused of taking $699.75 from three tellers at the two banks. Since police said he was released from the Wapato jail on Tuesday morning without any cash, it wasn't clear how he ended up with $11.15 more than that amount by the time officers searched his pockets.

The suspect did not want to acknowledge being read his rights and declined to discuss his actions with detectives, according to the report.

The robberies happened at the Wells Fargo branch at Yakima Avenue and First Street and the Central Valley Bank at Yakima Avenue and Third Avenue.

Police said the man entered the bank, made threatening statements to three tellers and demanded money. One even took the time to clarify he was indeed robbing her before she surrendered the cash, officers said.

Detectives who were patrolling the area spotted the man behind the state lottery office on South Fifth Avenue shortly after the second robbery.
