YAKIMA -- A registered sex offender from Yakima was sentenced this week to 15 years in federal prison for receiving child pornography.
The charges against Jesse Brent Stahl, 40, grew out of a rape investigation that included a search of his home in August 2006, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
The search stemmed from allegations that Stahl had sex with a 19-year-old woman who police described as developmentally disabled and that he'd been caught spying on a 15-year-old girl in her bedroom, Yakima police said at the time.
Yakima police forwarded a computer found at his home to the FBI. Agents found more than 1,000 images of child pornography on the hard drive, prosecutors said.
Stahl has been in custody since he was arrested on federal charges in May 2007.
Stahl was already listed as a high-risk Level 3 sex offender. His record stretches back to 1995 and includes convictions for third-degree rape, communicating with a minor for immoral purposes and indecent exposure.
