  <body>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Education &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The Western Business and Information Technology Educators has chosen &lt;strong&gt;Michael Batali&lt;/strong&gt; as the Postsecondary Outstanding Business Educator for 2008. Batali, a faculty member in the business and information technology department at Yakima Valley Community College, was recognized for preparing individuals to excel as consumers, workers and citizens in the national economy. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Finance &lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Yakima Federal Savings and Loan Association has named &lt;strong&gt;Mike Gilmore&lt;/strong&gt; its president and CEO. Gilmore, who has more than 33 years of experience with Yakima Federal, most recently held the position of executive vice president and treasurer of the association. Gilmore, who has a master's degree in business administration and a bachelor's degree in accounting from Gonzaga University, succeeds recently retired Pete Bansmer as president and is the seventh managing officer in the association's history. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Human Resources&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The Human Resource Certification Institute has granted a Senior Professional in Human Resources certification to &lt;strong&gt;John King&lt;/strong&gt;. King, human resources director of Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital's Garden Village, earned the certification after passing a rigorous examination and demonstrating a strong background of professional human resource experience. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Medical&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Central Washington Comprehensive Mental Health has selected new board members for a three-year term. They are &lt;strong&gt;Ron Melcher&lt;/strong&gt;, deputy fire marshall for the Yakima City Fire Department; &lt;strong&gt;Hal Powell&lt;/strong&gt;, owner of Powell Insulation &amp;amp; Roofing; and &lt;strong&gt;Susannah Vetsch&lt;/strong&gt;, financial adviser, Banc of America Investment Services.  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The Central Washington Comprehensive Mental Health Foundation has also selected &lt;strong&gt;Mandy Trujillo&lt;/strong&gt;, community relations coordinator for Highgate Senior Living, to serve on its seven-member board. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The American College of Healthcare Executives has selected &lt;strong&gt;Ronald J. Fought&lt;/strong&gt;, chief nursing officer at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center, and &lt;strong&gt;Timothy N. Thornell&lt;/strong&gt;, the hospital's associate administrator, as fellows for the nation's leading professional society for health care leaders. The pair were among only 7,500 health care executives to hold this distinction. They earned fellow status by fulfilling multiple requirements including passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria and earning continuing education credits. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Crescent Health Care/Crescent Place has hired &lt;strong&gt;Kristelle Harrington&lt;/strong&gt; as its marketing director. Harrington, a graduate of Central Washington University, was a longtime employee with Nordstrom and has lived in the Yakima area for 18 years. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Kmart recently selected &lt;strong&gt;Wendy Austin&lt;/strong&gt; as a Divisional Pharmacist of the Year. Austin, a full-time pharmacist and pharmacy manager in the Chehalis and Yakima Kmart stores, was recognized for providing special attention to seniors and helping them with Medicare Part D, and for preserving patients' prescriptions and insurance records during the flood in Chehalis. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</body>
