SUNNYSIDE -- Who needs 80 minutes to win a soccer match when you only need three?

Sunnyside's boys punched in a goal just that quick on Wednesday and it stood up for a 1-0 victory over Kamiakin in the Class 3A regional tournament.

With their eighth consecutive win, the Grizzlies (14-3) secured a state berth and will host Eastmont at 1 p.m. on Saturday for the regional title. Eastmont clipped Hanford by the same tally, 1-0, in Wednesday's other semifinal.

Junior Jesus Solis scored the quick goal off an assist from freshman Jesus Gudino, and junior goalkeeper Joaquin Perez made six saves in the shutout.

"We had the wind in our favor to start and the guys put a strong attack on them," said Sunnyside coach Juan Pineda. "That got the pressure off us. It gave us a chance to stay close on defense while they had to take some risks."

The Grizzlies earned the program's fourth trip to state in the last six years and fifth overall. Sunnyside swept Eastmont in league play, winning 2-1 in a shootout and 1-0.

Kamiakin is still alive and will host Hanford on Saturday for the third and final state berth.
