<p><strong>Tree lighting festival Nov. 28 </strong></p>
<p>GRANDVIEW -- The Grandview Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Christmas Tree lighting festival at 6 p.m. Nov. 28 at Stokley Square on Second Avenue.</p>
<p>The event will feature Christmas carols, hot chocolate, cookies and a visit with Santa.</p>

<p><strong>WSU computer workshops coming </strong></p>
<p>GRANDVIEW -- Washington State University will offer free computer workshops to teach growers how to use a new computer software.</p>
<p>The software helps growers make long-range technology decisions involving rootstock, varieties, sprayers and others.</p>
<p>The workshop will be offered in a variety of locations but comes to the Yakima Valley on the following dates:</p>
<p>* 3-5 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Yakima Valley Community College Grandview campus.</p>
<p>* 6-8 p.m. Dec. 18 at the community college's Yakima campus.</p>
<p>Organizers are requesting advance reservations.</p>

<p><strong>Grandview seeks 100th b-day motto </strong></p>
<p>GRANDVIEW -- Grandview community leaders want ideas for a motto for the city's 100th birthday.</p>
<p>Grandview will celebrate its centennial anniversary in 2009. The Grandview Chamber of Commerce is accepting suggestions for a slogan to use on publicity material.</p>
<p>The deadline for submitting ideas is Dec. 5.</p>

<p><strong>Play auditions set for Dec. 1-2 </strong></p>
<p>PROSSER -- Valley Theater Company will conduct auditions for a two-act musical, "The Fantasticks," on Dec. 1-2.</p>
<p>Participants should try to attend both nights and come with a prepared song and sheet music. Script readings and dancing will be Dec. 1 with vocal auditions on Dec. 2.</p>
<p>Both tryouts begin at <br /> 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 824 Sixth St.</p>
