<p>Selah firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire that damaged an apartment at 201 Southern Ave. on Monday evening.</p> <p>Deputy Chief Gary Hanna said investigators have determined the fire began in shrubbery next to a four-unit apartment complex and spread into the attic of one unit.</p> <p>The occupant was awakened by a neighbor and escaped without injury.</p> <p>Firefighters, responding to the 6:56 p.m. alarm, found a fire in the attic. They were able to control the blaze in about 20 minutes, Hanna said.</p> <p>Hanna estimated total damage at about $25,000, including $5,000 to contents of the home from water and smoke damage.</p> <p>No firefighters were injured.</p> Selah firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire that damaged an apartment at 201 Southern Ave. Monday evening.
