<p><strong>Volunteer garden party planned for Saturday</strong> </p><p>PROSSER -- Bearing garden tools and work gloves, volunteers will gather Saturday to spruce up the Prosser Community Playground. </p><p>Volunteers will work 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the playground, located in City Park on Seventh Street across from Prosser High School. </p><p>They meet every year to reseal the wooden playground and perform some landscaping work, such as replanting trees, pulling weeds and replenishing the bark floor. </p><p>More hands are welcome. Bring garden tools, gloves and some sanders if you have them, suggests Desiree Mains, a volunteer coordinator. </p><p>The playground was built in 2000 by volunteers and paid for by private donations under the direction of a paid engineer. </p><p>For more information, e-mail prosserplayground@yahoo.com. </p><p> </p><p><strong>Bake sale fundraiser Saturday in Naches</strong> </p><p>NACHES -- A yard and bake sale will be held for the benefit of a terminally ill Yakima native on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1612 Old Naches Highway. </p><p>Kirsten Schuler, 20, was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. </p><p>Donations will be accepted at the sale or can be made payable to "Benefit Donation act for Kirsten Schuler" at any Wells Fargo Bank.
