BASEBALL: The Cougar Baseball Academy at Washington State University will host two winter camps, January 10-11 and 16-19. The camps are for kids ages 8-18. Visit www.cougarbaseballacademy.com to register, or e-mail baseballcamps@wsu.edu for more information.

BASKETBALL: The Yakima Valley Sports Authority in cooperation with the Amateur Athletic Union is hosting the 2008 Fall Youth basketball league. The league will run on Saturdays from October 18 thru December 6. All team will play 6 games. The league is for boys and girls in grades 1-8. Early registration deadline is September 25 and the cost is $220. Late registration is September 26-30 and the cost is $250. FOOTBALL: Yakima Parks and Recreation is hosting the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition on Sunday, September 21 at the Gateway Sports Complex. There are four separate age divisions; 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15. The top finisher in each division will advance to a sectional competition. Birth certificate must be provided to verify age. Check-in is at 2 p.m. and the competition starts at 2:30 p.m. It is for boys and girls ages 8-15. There is no cost to enter.

SOCCER: Yakima Parks and Recreation is hosting the "Footzone Soccer Challenge" on Sunday, September 21 at the Gateway Sports Complex. The challenge is a soccer skills competition for both boys and girls ages 8-14. Separate age and gender events include distance kick, goal shooting, dribbling and throw-in for distance and accuracy. The top finisher in each age and gender division will advance to the regional or state competition. Birth certificate must be provided to verify age. Check-in is at 2 p.m. and the competition starts at 2:30 p.m. There is no cost to enter.
