Paul Abram Hill

Paul Abram Hill, 89, of Prosser died Monday at Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco.

Mr. Hill was born at the family home on the Rattlesnake Hills. He was a lifelong Prosser resident. At age 15, he went to work for his uncles at Mercer and Hill Sheep Co. During the World War II era, he farmed with his dad, raising wheat on the Rattlesnake. He later moved from the ranch to the Valley and resided in the Whitstran area, where he raised cattle and sheep. In 1980, he retired.

Survivors include a son, Harold Hill of Grandview; two daughters, Dorothy Cole of Prosser and Patti Talmadge of Kent, Wash.; a sister, Eva Ellen Bleuer of Gresham, Ore.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Prosser Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Prosser Cemetery.

 

Kenneth T. Broers

Kenneth Thomas Broers, 69, of Yakima died Monday.

Mr. Broers was born in Wenatchee and served in the Navy. He worked for several years with the Yakima County Engineers Office in Public Works as a surveyor.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Yakima; a daughter, Donna Broers of Yakima; and a son, Donald Broers of Yakima.

At his request, no formal services will be held.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Keith and Keith Funeral Home, Yakima.

 

John Dale Dunn

John Dale Dunn, 51, of Grandview died Wednesday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.

Mr. Dunn was born in Port Hueneme, Calif. He worked in construction at Hanford and lived in the Lower Valley for 30 years.

Survivors include his mother, Juanita Dunn of Mt. Angel, Ore.; a son, Cameron Dunn of Tillamook, Ore.; two sisters, Pat Saling of Grand Terrace, Calif., and Jero Lee Ercoline of Fairbanks, Alaska; and two grandchildren.

No local services will be held. A memorial service will be held in his hometown at a later date.

Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima, is in charge of arrangements.

 

Lee A. Mount

Lee A. Mount, 52, of Yakima died Tuesday.

Terry Hamil

Terry Hamil, 54, of Grandview died Friday in Yakima.

Mrs. Hamil was born in Prosser and received her education in Grandview. She worked for Twin City Foods in Prosser and most recently was working for Smuckers in Grandview.

Survivors include her husband, Conrad Hamil of Grandview; a son, Andrew Hamil of Grandview; a sister, Lois Hackworth of Four Lakes, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview.

Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Mary Jane Holden Hendricks

Mary Jane Holden Hendricks, 72, of Yakima died Tuesday.

Mrs. Hendricks was born in Duncan, Ariz., was raised on a ranch in the Araviapa Canyon and moved to Richland after high school. She spent most of her life in Yakima.

Survivors include her husband, LaVar of Yakima; two daughters, Janet Apken of Yakima and Julie DeSanti of Kennewick; four sons, Karl of Yakima, Kevin of Kennewick, Gary of Bellevue, Wash., and Lane of Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Loraine Cluff of Tucson, Ariz., and Joyce Dimbatt of Gilbert, Ariz.; two brothers, Ross Holden of North Bonneville, Wash., and George Holden of Spanish Fork, Utah; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 705 S. 38th Ave. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, also at the church. Burial will follow in West Hills Memorial Park.

 

Hazel C. Jacobson

Hazel Claudia Jacobson, 82, of Sunnyside died Monday.

Mrs. Jacobson was born in Colfax, Wash., and grew up on her family wheat farm in Prescott, Wash. She began teaching in Sunnyside in 1947.

Survivors include her husband, Richard "Jake" Jacobson; a son, Dick Jacobson of Selah; four daughters, Claudia Nysoe and Jennifer Eskil of Walla Walla, Chris Olfield of Everett, Wash., and Margee Weaver of Port Orchard, Wash.; two sisters, Marie Hart of Moses Lake and Polly Hennings of Ritzville, Wash.; a brother, Lee Pennell of Walla Walla; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Recitation of the rosary and sharing of memories will be at 6 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

 

John L. Markland

John L. Markland, 83, of Selah died Saturday at home.

Mr. Markland was born in Advance, N.C., and served in the Army during World War II. He retired from the Army and then worked for the civil service as a security officer.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Persinger Markland; four sons, John Michael Markland and R. Daniel Markland of Yakima, Karl E. Markland and Bradford C. Markland of Kennewick; two daughters, Sandra L. Kreps of Caldwell, Idaho, and Doris L. MacKay of Riverside, Calif.; a sister, Sudie Harvard of Advance, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, also at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. Concluding burial and military honors will be in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

 

Martha Toledo

Martha Toledo, 59, of Mabton died Saturday in Richland.

Mrs. Toledo was born in Mabton. Following marriage, she and her husband made their home in Grandview.

Survivors include her husband, Jose Miguel Toledo of Mabton; a daughter, Angelica Maria Diaz Morfin of Mabton; four sons, Jose Dario Diaz and Jonny Diaz of Mabton, Miguel Toledo Midina of Pasco and Roger Rodriguez; five brothers, Humberto Cerrillo of Lewiston, Idaho, Jesse Cerrillo, Richard Cerrillo and Gustavo Cerrillo of Mabton, and Arnulo Cerrillo of Grandview; three sisters, Eloisa Reyes of Grandview, Gloria Rios of Mabton and Angel Mendez of Sunnyside; and seven grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 1 to 8 p.m., Sunday, with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview. Burial will be in the Mabton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
