Tom Akers
Tom Akers, 66, of Yakima died Thursday.
Mr. Akers was born in Phoenix, Ariz.
Survivors include his wife, Freddie Akers; two daughters, Ronda Ross of Yakima and Renna Weeks of Wenatchee; a son, Tony Akers of Yakima; two sisters, Shirley Hughes of Yakima and Judy Miller of Rolesville, N.C.; two brothers, Rick Akers of Texas and John Akers of Kennewick; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 7 at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel.
Dorothy Lucille 'Benji' Crawford Shepherd
Benjamin
Dorothy Lucille "Benji" Crawford Shepherd Benjamin, 89, of Woodburn, Ore., died Tuesday.
Mrs. Benjamin was born in Youngstown, Ohio. She lived in California before moving to Sunnyside, where she worked as a cook for the school district. She then moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where she worked in the cafeteria at Argonne National Laboratories. After retirement, she and her husband moved back to Sunnyside. She had lived at Cascade Park in Woodburn, Ore., for the past 11 years.
Survivors include four children, John Shepherd of Woodburn, Larry Benjamin of Yakima, Roberta Miller and Marjorie VanCleve of Eugene, Ore.; a brother, Bill Goist of Hubbard, Ohio; 18 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Woodburn. Interment will be Tuesday in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn, Ore., is in charge of arrangements.
Donna Lee Dinse
Donna Lee Dinse, 73, of Yakima died Wednesday.
Mrs. Dinse was born in Seattle and moved to the Yakima area in the 1970s. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, John Dinse of Yakima; two sons, Vern Monette of Anchorage, Alaska, and Craig Monette of Chelan, Wash.; a daughter, Deborah Monette DeAtley of Yakima; a sister, Shirley Marx of Bellevue, Wash.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Community of Christ Church, 330 McGonagle Road, Selah.
Keith and Keith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dulcie M. Eagle
Dulcie M. Eagle, 90, of Yakima died Tuesday.
Mrs. Eagle was born in McAdams, New Brunswick, Canada. She and her late husband owned and operated The Golden Eagle Nursing Home. She also had worked at Yakima Convalescent Center and Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital for many years.
Survivors include a son, Eldon Eagle of Duluth, Minn.; four sisters, Addie Adams of Yakima, Peggy Harris of Moses Lake, Pat Syverson of Sunnyside and Pearl Ziegan of Cle Elum; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A private family graveside service will be Wednesday in the Zillah Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Living Care Center Meyer Auditorium.
Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Carl H. Rizzo
Carl H. Rizzo, 77, of Yakima died Thursday.
Mr. Rizzo was born in Streator, Ill., and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He lived in Ephrata, Wash., and worked as a mail carrier for 18 months. He then moved to Illinois for a short time before moving to Yakima, where he was skilled in many areas. He worked as a barber, contractor and car dealer for over 40 years, retiring in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Rizzo of Yakima; four children, Kathleen Varney of Federal Way, Wash., Michael J. Rizzo of Everett, Wash., Anthony F. Rizzo of Yakima and Carl L. Rizzo of Boise, Idaho; three brothers and sisters, Leo C. Rizzo of Albuquerque, N.M., Frank Rizzo Jr. and Joanne Mandula, both of Streator, Ill.; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
A vigil service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Chapel. Burial will follow in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
Alice M. Hunsaker
Alice M. Hunsaker, 56, of Sunnyside died Tuesday.
Mrs. Hunsaker was born in Los Angeles. Following her marriage in 1997, she and her husband made their home in the Yakima Valley.
Survivors include her husband, Clayton Hunsaker of Sunnyside; and a sister, Laura Edwards of Utah.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Grandview Nazarene Church.
Smith Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.
Royal 'Red' Grennette Little
Royal "Red" Grennette Little, 86, of Yakima died Friday.
Mr. Little was born in Bellingham, Wash., and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He had been a resident of Yakima for 59 years. He worked as a supervisor for the Washington State Department of Transportation.
Survivors include his wife, Connie (Fjellman) Little of Yakima; two daughters, Renae Roberson and Roxanne Trees, both of Seattle; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial tribute will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Bill Greenside Community Room at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Ferndale, Wash.
Sebastian Blaise Pue-Cruff
Sebastian Blaise Pue-Cruff, infant son of Chenelle Pue and Jeff Cruff of Yakima, died Wednesday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. He was 13 days old.
Viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Cathedral.
