Rec Notes -- Brooklyn's 12-Us finish 22nd at Cooperstown tournament

YAKIMA -- Winning six of 10 games against teams from all over the country, Brooklyn Baseball Club's 12-U team placed 22nd out of 98 teams in a tournament in Cooperstown, NY.

In the 10 tournament games, the team batted .369 with 23 home runs, 16 doubles and pitched two one-hit games. Brooklyn's run ended with a narrow loss to a team from Florida in the fourth round of elimination play.

The team members included Cameron Campbell, Brandon Cox, Kyle Crow, Travis Freymier, Dan Gregory, Matthew Hauck, Taylor Logan, Josiah Miller, Damon Nester, Garrhett Petrea, Erik Sauve, Zack Stone, Skylar Weaver, and Zack Heckart. Coaches were Alhanon Miller, Kurtis Wiles, Rick Sauve, Jason Stone, Randy Hauck, and Rich Lindros.

Evans Club gets three wins

SPOKANE -- A trio of youth boxers from Yakima's Evans Boxing Club won bouts at a smoker in Spokane last weekend.

Harley Herrera (152), John Carter (175) and Anthony Coles Pleasant (180) were winners in their respective weight and age divisions.
