Henry H. 'Hank' Hove
Henry H. "Hank" Hove, 70, of Yakima died Sunday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Hove was born in Madison, S.D. He was part of the team that constructed the original KNDO television station. He later worked for radio stations in Yakima, Ephrata, Wash., and Spokane. In 1972 he moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, where he was Chief Engineer for KTVF/KCBF/KXLR, part of Northern Television Corp. He became station manager and later CEO. He then moved to Nevada and returned to Yakima in 2004.
Survivors include his wife, Fran of Yakima; a son, Brian of Fairbanks; two daughters, Nancy Hawkinson of Seattle and Holliah of Yakima; two brothers, Rhio of Vancouver, Wash., and Robert of Orting, Wash.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Central Lutheran Church, with burial following in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
Shirley 'Spark' Mae Taylor
Shirley "Spark" Mae Taylor, 50, of Zillah died Monday.
Mrs. Taylor was born in Toppenish and raised in the Lower Valley. She worked at Toppenish Hospital.
Survivors include her mother, Hazel Hopper; a son, Jason Taylor; a daughter, Stacy Gardner; four brothers, Donald Hopper, Douglas Hopper, Ronnie Hopper and Kenneth Hopper; two sisters, Julia Shirley and Patty Tackett; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shirley's home, 360 Wampler Road in Zillah.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah.
John Charles Irvine
John Charles Irvine, 59, of Toppenish died Tuesday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.
Mr. Irvine was born and raised Toppenish. He was a laboratory assistant at the U and I Sugar Company for five years and was a yard supervisor at Snokist in Sawyer, Wash., for more than 24 years.
Survivors include his mother, Iness Irvine.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Zillah Cemetery.
Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Alta Aline Von Essen
Alta Aline Von Essen, 89, of Yakima died Saturday at Izzy's Adult Family Home.
Mrs. Von Essen was born in Hagerman, N.M., and moved to Yakima County in 1937, living in Gleed, Wapato and Yakima. She worked as a sorter and packer at local fruit warehouses and also was a cook at Wapato Junior High School.
Survivors include three children, Bill Von Essen, Judy Linn and Lyle Von Essen, all of Yakima; two sisters, Leona Mayberry and Alice Alsup of New Mexico; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors, with final committal in Terrace Heights Memorial Park to follow.
