Rosa L. Cagle
Rosa L. Cagle, 92, of Prosser died Friday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Mrs. Cagle was born in Indianola, Miss. In 1945 she and her husband moved to Louisiana, where they farmed until 1959. At that time the family moved to the Grandview community, where they continued to farm until retirement. She lived at Sheffield Manor in Prosser for six years.
Survivors include four children, Janie Green of Prosser, Kathryn Elliott and David Cagle of Grandview and Sarah Tuttle of Winchester, Va.; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home, Grandview. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home in Grandview. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery.
Ralph E. Cunningham
Ralph E. Cunningham, 91, of Yakima died Friday.
Mr. Cunningham was born in Enterprise, Kan., and moved to the Yakima area in 1937. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1978.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Cunningham of Richland; a son, Kenneth Cunningham of Lynnwood, Wash.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be at noon Sunday at 5 N. 40th Ave., Yakima.
Keith and Keith Funeral is handling arrangements.
Ruth L. (Barnes) Hull
Ruth L. (Barnes) Hull, 84, of Yakima died Monday at Apple Creek Adult Family Home.
Mrs. Hull was born in Endicott, N.Y. She was a homemaker and worked on the family farm in the Ahtanum Valley.
Survivors include her husband, Hugh Hull of Yakima; a sister, Kathryn Barnes; four children, Steve Hull, Debbie Dykstra, Tim Hull and Phil Hull; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from
4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 5 at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 6 in Tahoma Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Jason Andrew Pecheos
Jason Andres Pecheos, 27, of Moxee died Sunday in Yakima.
Mr. Pecheos was born in Toppenish. He worked as a produce manager at a grocery store.
Survivors include his mother, Sue Pecheos of Moxee; a daughter, Kaylee Marie Pecheos of Harrah; a brother, Nick Pecheos of Moxee; a sister, Andrea
Pecheos of Moxee; and his grandmother, Wilma Pecheos of Toppenish.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Zillah Cemetery.
Bernita Helen Meerdink
Bernita Helen Meerdink, 87, of Moxee died Sunday in Yakima.
Mrs. Meerdink was born in Yakima. She and her late husband owned and operated Meerdink's Marketeria.Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Johnson of Moxee; three grandchildren and two great-grandchild-ren.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
Juan Luis Torres
Juan Luis Torres, 4-month-old infant son of Juan Torres and Barbara Villasenor of Yakima, died Thursday in Seattle.
Juan Luis Torres was born in Laredo, Texas.
In addition to his parents, survivors include five siblings, Juan Diego, Justus Juan, Kassanndra Annaliz, Juanito Nicholas, Marcelino Juan; and his grandparents, Antonia Delgado of Tieton, Juan Torres of Chicago, and Arminda Torres of Morelos, Mexico.
A graveside service was held Tuesday in Calvary Cemetery.
Keith and Keith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rosemary Reda
Rosemary Reda, 75, of Yakima died Saturday at Selah Convalescent.
Mrs. Reda was born in Yakima. She had been a teacher in the Selah School District.
Survivors include a daughter, Gigi Reda; and her mother, Ann Rose Reda.
The family is honoring her request of no formal services.
Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Ferndon Shinn
Ferndon Shinn, 62, of Yakima died Tuesday.
Mr. Shinn was born in Merced, Calif.
Survivors include his wife, Effie Shinn of Yakima; and two sisters, Linda Caton and Willie Jo Westbrook, both of Atwater, Calif.
There will be a memorial service at a later date in September.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
Tammy Jean Lewis
Tammy Jean Lewis, 30, of Selah died Friday at the University of Washington Medical Center.
She was born in Sunnyside. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her mother, Angie Lewis; her husband, Corey Weiss; a son, Zachary Weiss; a daughter, Bella Weiss, all of Selah; two brothers, Jeffery Lewis of Yakima and Adrian Brophy of Spokane; and two sisters, Stephanie Beasley and Robin French, both of Yakima.
Recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1112 W. Fremont Ave., Selah. Mass of Christian burial will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, also at Our Lady of Lourdes. A celebration of life will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Southeast Yakima Community Center, 1211 S. Seventh St.
Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima, is in charge of arrangements.
Epigmenio R. Zavala
Epigmenio R. Zavala, 78, of Mabton died Sunday.
Mr. Zavala was born in Andice, Texas. His family first came to Washington state in 1946. He worked in the hop industry most of his life. He worked at the Yakima Chief Ranch for many years, and the David A. Strausz Hop Ranch, retiring in 1998.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Zavala of Mabton; 14 children, Daniel Zavala of Gladstone, Ore.; Celia Garza, Martha Gutierrez, Fred Zavala, Ismael Zavala, Susan Zavala, Art Zavala, Jim Zavala and Michael Zavala, all of Mabton, Rudy Zavala of Lake Stevens, Wash., John Zavala of Richland, Maria Alicia Ramos of Yakima, Clyde Zavala of Sunnyside and Beatrice Hanley of Vancouver, Wash.; four sisters, Irma Kirpes of Edinburg, Texas, Agapita Hunsaker of Portland, Feliciana Cerna of San Antonio and Eusevia "Cheva" Cerrillo of Mabton; two brothers, Conrado Zavala of Moses Lake and Juan Zavala of Pasco.
Viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m., at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Grandview, with burial to follow in the Mabton Cemetery.
