* Yakima Sports Center regulars may recognize Zera Marvel as the stunning blonde who sang a little backup during Head Like A Kite's last show there -- she and her husband, The Animals At Night electro-wiz Graig Markel, both have guest spots on KLAK's latest album.
But Marvel's solo material is something quite different, falling somewhere in that lonesome prairie between dusty alt-country and indie-singer/songwriter sirenship.
But you don't have to wait for her upcoming solo album, "Birds & Bullets Fly," to hear Marvel's haunting, melancholy music. She plays tonight at the Sports Center, 214 E. Yakima Ave. Also on the bill is Ellensburg songstress Star Anna and her pack of Laughing Dogs. The show starts at 9 p.m. Cover is $5.

* We know, we know, it's virtually impossible to get that "I Kissed A Girl" song out of your head.
It's everywhere.
Including the Vans Warped Tour.
Yup, remember to pack your cherry ChapStick because cutie pop sensation Katy Perry is part of this year's traveling punk-o-rama, which pulls into the Gorge Amphitheatre on Saturday.
Also on the bill are more recognizable Warped acts such as Anberlin, Angels and Airwaves, Gym Class Heroes, Horrorpops, Norma Jean, Reel Big Fish, Relient K, Rise Against, Street Dogs and The Vandals, among many others.
The gates open at 11 a.m. Tickets cost $29.05 and are available through Ticketmaster, 453-7139 or www.ticketmaster.com.
* From pizza to barbecue to Chukar Cherries, there's at least one wine that pairs well with each. And you can find it at the 27th annual Prosser Wine & Food Fair, which runs from 3-9 p.m. at Art Fiker Stadium, 1500 Paterson Road in Prosser.
There'll be offerings from more than 30 area wineries and 20 food vendors, plus live music by Sweet City Slang and Highland Drive.
Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 at the gate.
For more information or to purchase tickets, call the Prosser Chamber of Commerce at 800-408-1517 or 786-4545.
* Those hot August nights are about to get hotter, because 1st Fridays is presenting a summer drag show.
The "August Review" show and dance runs from 9 p.m.-1:30 a.m. at the Howard Johnson Plaza, 9 N. Ninth St.
The featured performer is Shayé La Raé of Seattle (via Ireland), whose lean frame is perfect for channeling skinny-mini diva Celine Dion. A dance follows with music by DJ A.O.
Admission for the 18 and older event is $10. Proceeds benefit 1st Fridays, a local social, support and advocacy group for the area's gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered or questioning community.
For more information, call 576-0276, ext. 1, or e-mail 1st-Fridays@gayakima.com.
Friday, Aug. 15-Saturday, Aug. 16

It kicks off at 10 a.m. next Friday with the All Nations Skatejam Northwest Qualifier at the skate park at Chesterley Park, 40th Avenue and River Road.
Then on Aug. 16, the festival moves to the Yakima Valley SunDome, 1301 S. Fair Ave., where there will be a three-on-three basketball tournament, car show, food vendors, kids' activities and an evening hip-hop concert featuring Chingo Bling, Gemini, A-Wax, the Rez Hogs and the Stoned Kings, among others.

* No, they won't back down.
Even after 30 years in the music-making business, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers -- who rocked this year's Super Bowl -- are still running down a dream as they roll into the Gorge Amphitheatre next weekend.
Petty and the boys play a two-night gig Aug. 15-16 at The Gorge. Opening is Steve Winwood, whose recent "Nine Lives" album avoids his adult-contemporary side in favor of a more adventurous sound.
Tickets cost $45, $65 and $95 and are available through Ticketmaster. Call 453-7139, or visit www.ticketmaster.com.
