NACHES -- A Yakima city attorney was hurt Saturday night when a truck hit his motorcycle on U.S. Highway 12, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Jeff Cutter, 54, of Naches is an assistant city attorney for Yakima. He has worked on the West Valley Wal-Mart and other development projects.
City manager Dick Zais said Cutter's injuries were not life-threatening, but he was continuing to undergo treatment Sunday night at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.
Zais said he expected Cutter to be off the job for a while. Cutter had started a rotation this month as acting city attorney following the recent resignation of Ray Paolella from that permanent post. Zais said one of the city's other senior attorneys would assume that duty.
State troopers said the truck's driver, 66-year-old Larry Record of Yakima, was headed south on McCormick Road about 10:20 p.m. Saturday when he failed to yield to Cutter, who was riding a 2005 Honda ST1300.
Both vehicles were destroyed.
Record was wearing a seat belt and Cutter had a helmet, state troopers said.
