BASEBALL: West Valley Little League Juniors baseball registration will be taking place from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the West Valley Middle School Commons, and at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Cottonwood Elementary. Players (ages 13-14) can also register online at www.eteamz.com/WestValleyLL/. Tryouts will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cottonwood Elementary. Cost is $150, with the season running from May 27 to July 8. Players must bring their birth certificate and proof of residency within the West Valley School District boundaries when you register. * Yakima National Little League will have its final 2008 Juniors Baseball registration and tryout for players ages 13-14 starting at noon Saturday at the Elks Memorial Park green field. For more information, contact Bob Adams at 972-2400.
UMPIRING: The Yakima Valley Umpires Association needs umpires for the summer baseball, fastpitch and slowpitch seasons. Umpires must be available after 5 p.m. weekdays, and 9 a.m. Saturdays. Call Dick Eglet (945-2379) for more information, or come to the group's general rules meeting Monday at 7 p.m. in the Davis High lunchroom.
BASKETBALL: Yakima AAU is taking registrations for the Three Rivers Summer Youth Basketball League. The league is for players in second grade through high school varsity. Cost is $280 per team for eight games, which are played Monday through Thursday evenings from June 2 to July 7. Entry forms are available at
www.ieaau.org, or by calling the AAU office at 453-2696.
SWIMMING: YAC Swimming currently has openings for new members. Tryouts are May 19-26 at the Yakima Athletic Club pool. Tryouts for ages 9-17 will be at 4 p.m. Monday-Friday, with ages 6-8 at
5 p.m. Monday-Thursday. For more information contact coach Lexie Sturges at 453-6521.
FOOTBALL: The Northeast Thunder Grid Kids football team and cheerleaders are having a hot dog sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Wal-Mart, and a rummage sale starting at 8 a.m. at
St. Michael's Church. The team will also have a sign-up booth at the Barge Lincoln Elementary Community Carnival from 4 to 6 p.m. on May 20.
