COWICHE -- Rallying from an early deficit, Wahluke's boys soccer team surged to a 3-1 victory over Highland in a SCAC semifinal match on Tuesday.
The Warriors (13-5) will play at Connell on Thursday at 4 p.m. in the district championship. The winner qualifies for state.
Highland jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute, but Wahluke seized the lead by halftime with goals from Pedro Acevedo and Pedro De Lira.
The Scotties can still earn one of the district's two state berths but it will require winning two loser-out matches, starting with Thursday's home match against Royal.

Othello sweeps East Valley
OTHELLO -- Othello handed East Valley its first two league losses of the season and took control of first place in the CWAC on Tuesday.
Nina Gonzalez hit three home runs on the day, and Bebe Villegas knocked a grand slam in the opener as the Huskies (15-1 in league) won 6-2 and 5-1. The setbacks drop EV to 14-2 overall with only a Saturday doubleheader against Ellensburg (14-2) remaining on the schedule. Othello closes out with two games against Selah (13-3) this Friday.
Hollie Thierolf led East Valley in the opener, batting 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. The Red Devils managed only one hit in the second game.
ELLENSBURG 13-16, TOPPENISH 0-1: At Ellensburg, Sarah McNamee struck out 11 in the opener and Brittni Gant fanned nine in the nightcap as the Bulldogs swept the Wildcats. The two pitchers combined to allow only two hits on the day.
MABTON 25-27, WHITE SWAN 13-3: At White Swan, Cristal Arreola had three hits in the first game and Jessica Cuesada had three in the second as the Vikings swept. Sophia Perez homered in the second game for the Cougars.
