Prep roundup -- Bush, Newport lead Ike sweep

YAKIMA -- Jessica Bush took over the Valley lead in the shot put and Jonathan Newport swept the 100- and
200-meter dashes to highlight Eisenhower's sweep over Davis in Columbia Basin League 4A dual meets Thursday at Kumler Field.

Bush threw the shot
38 feet, 7 inches and she also won the discus at 123-7 for Eisenhower's girls, who topped Davis 81-64 but fell to Walla Walla. Pasco also competed in the final round of dual meets.

Davis' Sandra Martinez won the 1,600 (5:09.40) and 3,200 (11:10.28), and Crystal Johnson turned in a fine sprint triple with times of 13.07 (100), 26.62 (200) and 1:00.03 (400).

In addition to his sprint wins, Newport placed second in the triple jump and ran on the runner-up 4x100 for Ike's boys, who prevailed over Davis 106-38 and fell to Walla Walla.

The CBL district meet will be held May 9 at Richland.

Cuillier belts three homers

Senior pitcher Renee Cuillier took some big cuts at the plate on Thursday, hitting three home runs to help East Valley remain unbeaten in CWAC play with a 10-0, 12-2 sweep over Grandview.

Cuillier pitched a
one-hitter and homered in the first game, then went 4-for-4 with two homers and a triple in the second contest.

Ashlyn Valicoff was a combined 6-for-7 for the Red Devils, who improved to 14-0 in conference.
