SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- For kids who can't simply click their heels and wish their way home, a new pair of shoes may be a precious gift.
With that in mind, the Sunnyside High School drama club will hold the Ruby Slipper Drive -- a shoe drive for foster children -- during its production of "The Wizard of Oz."
Performances are Friday, Saturday and March 1, 2 and 3, all at 7 p.m. at the school, 16th Street and Edison Ave. The March 1 curtain is free with any pair of donated shoes.
All donated shoes will be sent to the Treehouse Organization, a Seattle charity that provides children of foster homes with new clothes, among other services. The group prefers new and gently used shoes.
