Glenn S. Crowe
Glenn Sachio Crowe, 36, of Laughlin, Nev., died Sunday. Mr. Crowe was born in Sunnyside. He was a physicist, a chemist and a mathematician with more than 200 scientific articles published. He was a tutor in physics and mathematics at Washington State University and later at the University of Washington for many years.
Survivors include his mother, Chieko Crowe; his father, Duane Crowe; and his companion, Korin Hanson.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon today at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday in Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.
Ned S. Landers
Ned Stuart Landers, 76, of Longview died Wednesday in Portland. Mr. Landers was born in Pecos, Texas. He had lived in Milwaukie, Crescent and Yachats, Ore., Toppenish and Longview, and Holyoke, Colo. He was a pastor for 57 years.
Survivors include his wife, Marcene Landers of Longview; four children, Lynette Ramirez of Camas, Toby Landers of Richland, Torrey Landers of Kwajalein, Marshall Islands, and Loralyn Leaf of Bremerton; a brother, Ted Landers of Muscatine, Iowa; and nine grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Columbia Funeral Services in Longview. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Barton Community Baptist Church in Boring, Ore.
Velma A. Moran
Velma A. Moran, 91, of Grandview died Feb. 2. Mrs. Moran was born on Bainbridge Island.
Survivors include a son, Gail Beck of Covington; two sisters, Phyllis Cooper of Poulsbo and Mary Jean Peterson of Grandview; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Grandview VFW. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home LTD and Crematory in Sunnyside.
Fredrick K. Mutch
Fredrick Keith Mutch, 87, of Yakima died Friday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Mutch was born in Portland. He was a pharmacist and owner of the Fred Mutch Drug Store in Toppenish.
Survivors include his wife, Marian Mutch of Yakima; seven children, Mary Smith of Newberg, Ore., Suzanne Mutch of Brookings, Ore., Keith Mutch of Seattle, Kathleen Mutch of Yakima, John Mutch of Richland, Paul Mutch of Portland and Leslie Rowe of Emmett, Idaho; a brother, James Mutch of Los Altos, Calif.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Keith and Keith Terrace Heights Chapel.
Marylyn C. Novobielski
Marylyn C. Novobielski, 83, of Yakima died Thursday at home. Mrs. Novobielski was born in Sheboygan, Wis. She and her husband formed and operated Greenwood TV and Radio for 18 years. In 1971 they moved to Yakima and owned and operated Bernie's TV at Westpark Shopping Center until 1983.
Survivors include her husband, Bernard Novobielski of Yakima; four sons, Richard Novobielski-Novell of Milwaukee, Wis., Dale Novobielski, David Novobielski and Raymond Novobielski, all of Yakima; a daughter, Kathryn Ralph of Yakima; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 18 at Keith and Keith Terrace Heights Chapel.
Shelley K. Randall
Shelley Kay Randall, 44, of Yakima died Monday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center. Mrs. Randall was born in Yakima. She worked as a bartender/waitress in the restaurant industry for many years.
Survivors include three children, Jessica K. Randall of Yakima, Bradley Gott of Wenatchee and Barbara Plocharsky of Longview; her father, Rodney Kinney; a brother, Kenneth E. Kinney; and her stepfather, Ed Day, all of Yakima.
Services are pending at a later date. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
John R. Ring
John Robert Ring, 96, of Selah died Wednesday. Mr. Ring was born in Warsaw, Ind. He was a professor at Washington University in St. Louis. He moved to Selah in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Lucile Ring of Selah; three sons, Tom Ring and Jim Ring of Selah and John Ring of Yakima; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. today in Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors.
Richard S. Rogers
Richard Scot Rogers, 58, of Yakima died Wednesday. Mr. Rogers was born in Ellensburg and grew up in the Yakima area. He moved to Seattle for a short time and then returned to Yakima. He worked as a commercial fisherman for seven years in the Grays Harbor area. He also worked as an appliance technician for Maytag and American Meter for over 20 years.
Survivors include his mother, Helen Rogers-Miller of Yakima; his father, Robert Rogers of Seattle; two sons, Matthew Rogers and Ryan Rogers of Yakima; a sister, Cheri Heilman of Yakima; a half-brother, Mike Rogers of Chandler, Ariz.; three half-sisters, Kimberley Felix of Phoenix, Lisa of Kent and Suzie of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and one grandchild.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.
Jean Van Leuven
Jean Van Leuven, 77, of Ellensburg died Tuesday. Ms. Van Leuven was born in Spokane and had lived in the Ellensburg area more than 45 years. She worked for the Hallmark Store and Safeway.
A celebration of life will be at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at First Presbyterian Church in Ellensburg. Arrangements are by Steward and Williams Tribute Center.
Charles A. Zero
Charles Andrew Zero, 44, of Yakima died Wednesday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Zero was born in Yakima. He worked at Circle Z Foods.
Survivors include his father, William Zero; and a brother, Brad Zero, both of Yakima.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday in Calvary Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery. Arrangements are by Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors.
Kathleen P. Hiatt
Kathleen Pearl Hiatt, 86, of Ellensburg died Thursday at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital. Mrs. Hiatt was born in Yakima. She also lived in Waldport, Ore. She was an elementary school teacher in Yakima for many years, finishing her career at McKinley Elementary, where she taught for 29 years.
Survivors include four children, Carol Delano of Yakima, Carl Hiatt, Karen Zwick and Charles Hiatt, all of Ellensburg; a brother, Robert Kennedy of Yakima; a sister, Sharon Williams of Goldendale; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
Shawashnye Aleck
Shawashnye "Lefty" Aleck, 60, of Toppenish died Friday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center. Ms. Aleck was born in The Dalles, Ore., and was raised in White Swan and Anadarko, Okla. She worked in Washington, D.C., for the Senate Select Committee and in the American Indian Banking Industry. She moved to Seattle, where she worked as a dispatcher for Qwest before moving back to Toppenish in the mid-2000s.
Survivors include her mother, Elizabeth of White Swan; a brother, Leland Wilson of Pendleton, Ore.; and a sister, Donna Wilson of White Swan.
Dressing services will be at 2 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home. Overnight services will be Sunday at the Toppenish Creek Longhouse, with interment at 8 a.m. Monday in the Toppenish Creek Cemetery.
