In case you haven't heard, the Rosauer's 13-hour cereal sale is today. What does that mean? That means cheap breakfast — a variety of brand-name cereals are on sale for $1.89 a box. It runs into this evening, I think 8 p.m. I was there at noon and it was crowded but not chaotic. Special displays full of cereal are set up throughout the store. My spouse and I picked up 12 boxes, but we had 3 coupons for $1 off (check out the Kelloggs website or FrugalYakimaMom.com for printable ones), so we paid about $1.63 per box. That is one heck of a deal.
The best part about this sale in my house? I married a 30-year-old man who is very in-touch with his inner child. He loves sugared cereal. I mean LOVES. For his birthday this year, my mom bought him four boxes of Count Chocula and it was the best gift he ever had. A lot of what is on sale is kids cereal — we got Trix, Kix, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Frosted Flakes, and Cocoa Pebbles. There are some organic cereals on sale, too, if you're that kind of person.
In other food news — I'm sure you've seen the TV commericals for "Febru-ANY" from Subway. That's their annual any foot-long sandwich for $5. Warning, however: The franchisee (that is, the local store owner) has to be willing to participate. I know at least the shop on 2nd and Yakima avenues is not participating. I haven't checked out any of the others. So if you're hoping for a cheap sub, double check that they shop is participating in Febru-ANY before you order and avoid an ugly scene at the register.
