ELLENSBURG -- A 73-year-old Ellensburg snowmobiler missing overnight in Kittitas County was found about 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Authorities said Howard Umland, who got separated from his group Tuesday evening in the Reecer Creek area, was in good condition.
He had last been seen on a groomed trail about nine miles up Reecer Creek Road. He had been riding with a group of four others and was reported missing at 6 p.m. Searchers found his snowmobile abandoned near the Nanum drainage about 1:30 p.m. and followed his footprints for about two miles before finding him.
After suspending operations at 2 a.m. the Kittitas County Search and Rescue team resumed the search at 7 a.m., said Kittitas County Undersheriff Clayton Myers.
Umland was reported to be "somewhat" familiar with the area, Myers said, adding that the man did not have many supplies but might have had some snacks.
About 30 volunteers took part in the search.
