ELLENSBURG, Wash. — A 73-year-old Ellensburg snowmobiler missing overnight in Kittitas County was found at about 3 this afternoon.
Authorities said Howard Umland, who got separated from his group Tuesday evening in the Reecer Creek area, is in good condition.
He had last seen on a groomed trail about 9 miles up Reecer Creek Road. Searchers found his snowmobile abandoned near the Nanum drainage at about 1:30 p.m. and followed his foot prints for about two miles before finding him.
He had been riding with a group of four others and was reported missing at 6 p.m.
After suspending operations at 2 this morning, the Kittitas County Search and Rescue team resumed the search at 7, said Kittitas County Undersheriff Clayton Myers.
Umland was reported to be "somewhat" familiar with the area, Myers said, adding that Umland did not have many supplies but might have had some snacks.
About 30 volunteers were taking part in the search mission today.
