YAKIMA, Wash. — Wrapped up this week’s issue of On magazine, and I think there are some things in there you’ll want to read.
For instance, we’ve got a cover story on the new Larson Gallery show, "From the Ground Up." That show, which features 14 artists and their work in clay, is incredibly varied and could well change the way you think about clay sculpture.
What else do we have? We have this:
• A short piece on the Charlie Shoemake Quintet, which plays The Seasons Performance Hall on Friday.
• A short piece on Dyme Def, the headliner of a hip-hop show at The Seasons on Saturday. (And, by the way: How’s THAT for variety? Serious jazz one night, up-and-coming hip-hop the next.)
• A nice trip down memory lane as movie man Ryan Messer discusses "Diner."
• A review from Inklings Bookshop guy Mark James, who recommends Lyndsay Faye’s "Gods of Gotham."
• A restaurant recommendation from copy editor and staff foodie Savannah Tranchell, who visited Tony’s Big Cheese Pizza last week.
• A Dear Crabby column in which I offer the following advice: "Divorce him. He’s clearly some kind of weirdo."
• An Indoorsman column in which I reflect upon my flaws and wonder whether I’ll improve upon them. (I know, that’s EVERY Indoorsman column.)
And, as always, we’ve got your 10 Days Out briefs and full calendars of everything you need to know about what’s going on this weekend and beyond. Make sure you pick up a copy with Thursday’s Yakima Herald-Republic.
Until then, I’ll leave you with this Nirvana video, the inspiration for this post’s headline.
