YAKIMA, WASH. -- Those explosive sounds from the Army's Yakima Training Center that reverberated across parts of the Yakima Valley on Thursday were part of a routine training exercise.

Emergency dispatchers got several calls regarding noise, said Brenda Cantu, assistant communication manager for Yakima's 911 center.

The commotion was caused by a company of 3,100 soldiers participating in artillery training, said James Reddick, a Training Center spokesman.

The soldiers were from the Stryker Brigade Combat Team from Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
