Rebecca A. Wilson
Rebecca Ann Wilson, 65, of Zillah died Saturday at Yakima Regional Cardiac and Medical Center.
Ms. Wilson was born in Marshall, Ark. She worked as a custodian and door attendant. She lived in the Yakima Valley for more than 50 years.
Survivors include three sisters, Bettie Hinchey of Harrison, Ark., Nancy Younger of Zillah and Carol Clark of Spokane.
A memorial service is planned for a later date. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home, Zillah.
Lena M. Burrow
Lena Mae Burrow, 93, of Yakima died Sunday at Landmark Care Center.
Mrs. Burrow was born in Yellville, Ark. She was a sorter at several warehouses, including Nordberg, Price Cold Storage and Holtzingers.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Jacobs of Yakima and Carolyn Rose of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, John Penalton of Yakima; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima. A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
William J. Mullen
William J. Mullen, 67, of Naches died Sunday.
Mr. Mullen was born in Lincoln, Neb. He moved to the Yakima area as a child. He worked many years as a seasonal mechanic in Kodiak, Alaska, and for the Forest Service in the Naches area. He was also a ski instructor and worked for the ski patrol for White Pass Resort. Most recently, he was a freelance surveyor.
Survivors include a brother, Michael Mullen of San Diego; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is pending. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima.
Emily C. (Bradford) Craig
Emily Christine (Bradford) Craig, 28, of Yakima died Wednesday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Craig was born in Yakima.
Survivors include her husband, Troy Craig Sr.; three children, Troy Craig Jr., Andrew Craig and Alexander Craig, all of Yakima; and her parents, Mark and Annie Bradford of Spokane Valley.
A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Yakima. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home of Yakima.
William Swearngin
William "Paul" Swearngin, 74, of Naches died Thursday in Yakima.
Mr. Swearngin was born in Kelso. He lived on Chinook Pass and retired from Twin City Foods in Ellensburg in 2005.
Survivors include eight children, Patsy Dye, Laura Schmahl and Paul Swearngin Jr., all of Yakima, Susan Daniels and Dan York, both of Selah, Christy Mears of Toppenish, Tracy Richardson of Redmond, Ore., and Steve Swearngin of Ellensburg; a brother, Jim Swearngin of Yakima; a sister, Carol York of Toppenish; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held with a private burial in West Hills Memorial Park in West Valley. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care, Moxee.
Albert W. Rogers
Albert W. Rogers, 91, of Ellensburg died Saturday at Royal Vista Care Center.
Mr. Rogers was born in Newbury, Mass. He retried from the Navy, having served during World War II and the Korean War. He later worked for the Kent School District as the director of maintenance. He moved to Ellensburg six years ago.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Ross of Ellensburg; a son, Allen Rogers of Allyn; two sisters, Marian Whalen and Elizabeth Bill, both of Massachusetts; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services are planned for a later date in the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. Arrangements are by Steward and Williams Tribute Center, Ellensburg.
Henry L. Smith
Henry "Hank" Lee Smith, 86, of Toppenish died Sunday at his home.
Mr. Smith was born in Hugo, Okla. He served in the Army in the 1940s, then moved to the Yakima Valley. He worked as a ranch and farm laborer.
Survivors include five daughters, Carol Linstad of Yakima, Chris Mitzel of Vancouver, Kathy Crawford of Myrtle Creek, Ore., Tammy Thompson of Outlook and Connie Lenseigne of Moxee; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Colonial Funeral Home, Toppenish.
Howard R. Coder
Howard Raymond Coder, 88, of Wapato died Sunday at Emerald Care.
Mr. Coder was born in Ulysses, Kan. He worked for St. Regis Paper Co. in Tacoma and in California for more than 30 years. He served in the Army during World War II. He moved to Sunnyside in 2002.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Stomp of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Patricia Coder of Eugene, Ore.; a brother, Dale Coder; four sisters, Janice Bottineau of Prosser, Maxine Walker of Tacoma, and Marjorie Bridger and Mary Bedker, both of Zillah; and a grandson.
A celebration of life for family members will be Wednesday at the Zillah Adventist Church. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside.
Robert Thurlow
Robert Thurlow, 82, of Yakima died Sunday at Willow Springs.
Mr. Thurlow was born in Yakima. He lived in Los Angeles for many years, worked for the Federal Employees Distribution Co. for 26 years and was a warehouse supervisor. He served in the Navy from 1948 to 1951.
Survivors include his half-brother, Bill Richards of Zillah.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel in Yakima. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday in West Hills Memorial Park in West Valley. Full military honors will be provided by the William Wharton Post No. 379 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Betty R. Lundy
Betty Ruth Lundy, 83, of Grandview died Saturday.
Mrs. Lundy was born in Bishop Mills, Ontario, Canada. She was a greeter at Wal-Mart in Sunnyside until retirement.
Survivors include a son, Paul Lundy of Grandview; two daughters, Arlene Williams of Cle Elum and Karen Lundy of Ferndale; a brother, William Hamblen of Ontario; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Viewing and visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Private family burial will follow in the Grandview Cemetery.
Robert M. Eakin
Robert Marvin Eakin, 81, died Saturday at his home.
Mr. Eakin was born in Yakima. He was the owner/operator of Eakin Fruit Co.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Eakin of Yakima; his mother, Helen Eakin Elliott of Yakima; three daughters, Kathleen Hodges of Yakima, Susan Henry of Indianola and Julie O'Neal of Seattle; two brothers, John Eakin of Yakima and William Eakin of Hansville; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel in Yakima. A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Yakima. Private interment will be in West Hills Memorial Park in West Valley.
Richard E. Riegel
Richard E. Riegel, 92, of Ellensburg died Sunday.
Mr. Riegel was born in Ellensburg and lived on the family farm. He was a ditch walker for Westside Irrigation.
Survivors include his wife, Jolanda Riegel; a son, Kirk Riegel; and a daughter, Renee Bisbee.
A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ellensburg. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care, Ellensburg.
Victor R. Schmeck
Victor "Bubba" Rufus Schmeck, 50, of Richland died Jan. 14.
Mr. Schmeck was born in Yakima and raised in Union Gap. He was an auto mechanic.
Survivors include a daughter, Holley Schmeck; a son, Nick Schmeck; a sister, Lauri Quay; a brother, Michael Schmeck; and a grandson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Memorial Center in Kennewick, followed by a potluck reception at the home of Nick Schmeck.
June M. Pletcher
June Marie Pletcher, 81, of Yakima died Friday at Sun Tower.
Mrs. Pletcher was born in Sauk Rapids, Minn. She moved to Yakima in 1942.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Pletcher; a daughter, Kay Bachteler of Yakima; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
No services are planned. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home of Yakima.
Lois E. Funston
Lois Eileen Funston, 92, of Yakima died Sunday at Crescent Health Care.
Mrs. Funston was born in Missouri.
Survivors include two daughters, Leone Nunley of Yakima and Sandra Alm of Graham; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel in Yakima. A graveside service will be at noon Wednesday at Mountain View Memorial Park in Hood River, Ore.
