CLE ELUM, Wash. — A truck driver and a Fort Lewis soldier driving a U.S. Army Humvee received minor injuries in a crash 10 miles west of here this morning on Interstate 90, the Washington State Patrol reported.
A Freightliner car hauler driven by Roman V. Yefremov, 23, of Spokane was traveling east in the inside lane shortly after 5 a.m. when it struck the Humvee, driven by Marco I. Alvarado, 22. The State Patrol said Alvarado, whose rank was not available, was in a military convoy.
Both drivers were treated for their injuries at the scene of the accident. The State Patrol said the accident was caused by Yefremov’s inattention and failure to adjust his speed for road conditions.
