Free medical clinic at Tieton church

New Country Church in Tieton is hosting a Union Gospel Mission free medical clinic from 5 to 8 p.m. Fridays.

The reception area is in the lobby of the church, and there is a private examination room.

The church is at 813 Tieton Heights Road, in the old theater building on the south end of the town square in Tieton. Information: 509-673-0165.

 

Celebration of life set for 102-year-old

A memorial service and celebration of life for longtime church member Ann Pickens will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Yakima. Pickens died Dec. 19 at age 102.

Bluegrass liturgy at Sunday service

Central Lutheran Church invites the community to a bluegrass liturgy at the 8:15 a.m. service Sunday.

The service will include guitar, banjo, mandolin, upright bass, percussion and flute.

Parenting class set at First Presbyterian

First Presbyterian Church in Yakima will hold a parenting class at 11 a.m. Sundays, Feb. 5 through March 25. The class, "How to Get Your Kids to Behave Without Spanking or Spoiling," will be taught by author and certified family life educator Laurie Kanyer.

Topics will include why kids misbehave, setting reasonable limits, understanding temperament, cooperation through listening, avoiding predictable problems, reducing adult stress, and positive care for kids.

The class is free and will be in the lounge of the church, 9 S. Eighth Ave. Information: 509-248-7940.

 

Bible study/cancer support group to meet

Lamplight, a community Bible study and support group for cancer patients, will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at North Star Lodge in Yakima.

The topic: "Standing on the Promises: When the Rug Gets Pulled Out From Under Me, Where Do I Hold On?" Bring your own lunch.

North Star Lodge is at 808 N. 39th Ave. in Yakima. Leadership team members are Marilee Shively, Bill Starr and Laurie Oswalt. Information: 509-452-5882.

 

Sing on Saturday at Cowiche church

Cowiche Community Church is hosting Saturday Night Sing at 6 p.m. Feb. 4. The event is free.
