Catholic 'Inquiry' presentation set for Monday at St. Paul School
Interested in learning more about Catholicism?
An introduction to the Catholic faith will be held Monday at Yakima's St. Paul Cathedral School, next door to the church.
"Inquiry" runs from 7-9 p.m. on the third floor of the parish school, 214 W. Chestnut Ave. Participants are asked to use the school's east door.
Refreshments will be served. There will be a presentation and time for questions.

Returning-Catholics classes scheduled at Holy Family Parish
Holy Family Parish is offering a program titled "Catholics Returning Home." It's a six-week series inviting people who have been away from the Catholic Church to return to the active practice of their faith.
The program will be at 10:30 a.m. Sundays in the Church Bride's Room, 5315 Tieton Drive in Yakima. The topics are:
Sunday: Welcome and overview of series; Jan. 22: Sharing Stories of Faith; Jan. 29: The Church Today: Changes Since Vatican II; Feb. 5: A Walk Through the Mass; Feb. 12: Sacrament of Reconciliation; Feb. 19: The Creed: What Catholics Believe.

Lamplight Bible study support for cancer patients offered
Lamplight -- Community Bible Study Support for Cancer Patients will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 23 at North Star Lodge in Yakima.
The topic "The Bible: Is It More Than a Self-Help Book?" Please bring your own lunch.

Parents with Courage to hold parenting classes at First Presbyterian
Parents with Courage will hold a seven-week program that aims to provide parents with greater self-understanding as well as enhanced skills for parenting.
Classes run from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Jan. 18, and will be held at First Presbyterian Church.
This program is for families with older primary and high school aged children. Principles are drawn from research and best practice in the fields of psychology, sociology, education and theology.

Celebration of life service set for 102-year-old longtime member
A memorial service and celebration of life for Ann Pickens, a longtime church member, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Yakima. Pickens died Dec. 19 at age 102.

Gospel jamboree set at Mabton Grace Brethren Church on Sunday
Mabton Grace Brethren Church will hold a gospel jamboree at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The featured guest singer will be Leroy Blankenship. Other regular musicians and groups that participate include Joyful Noise and Heartstrings.
The jamboree is free, but donations will be accepted.

Legislative briefing planned for next weekend at Central Lutheran
There will be a legislative briefing sponsored by the Yakima Association of Churches and Faith Communities from 8:30 a.m. to noon Jan. 21 at Central Lutheran Church. A light breakfast will be included at the free event.
The briefing will feature Steve Hill, Yakima County Department of Human Services, and a panel representing social service agencies in the Yakima Valley.
