Citizenship Day planned Saturday in Yakima

Yakima Herald-Republic

YAKIMA -- Volunteer immigration attorneys, paralegals and interpreters will offer free citizenship application assistance to legal permanent residents in four cities across the state Saturday: Yakima, Centralia, Pasco and Tukwila.

There are an estimated 170,000 green card holders in Washington who are eligible to become citizens, but haven't done so due to various barriers. This statewide Citizenship Day event gives legal permanent residents an opportunity to receive comprehensive assistance navigating the citizenship process.

In Yakima, the event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Central Lutheran Church at 1604 W. Yakima Ave.

The event is organized by OneAmerica in partnership with the Washington chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
