YAKIMA, Wash. — A 19-year-old was cited for reckless driving after authorities said he bragged on his Facebook page about outrunning a Yakima County Sheriff’s deputy.
The incident began Saturday shortly before 8 p.m. when a man was spotted driving an off-road motorcycle in the 300 block of Terrace Heights Drive, according to a news release issued this morning by the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.
When the deputy attempted to stop the motorcycle, it sped off on the Roza Canal ditch road, where the deputy was unable to keep up, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
However, several hours later authorities learned a 19-year-old man was bragging on Facebook about outrunning officers. A photograph on the web site was "strikingly similar to the one that eluded the deputy hours earlier," according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies then carried out a search warrant at 4 a.m. at the man’s home, where he was cited for reckless driving and other infractions.
In issuing a news release about the incident, Deputy Chris Gray added a word of caution.
