YAKIMA, Wash. -- Drumming workshops at schools in White Swan and Toppenish have been under way since Wednesday.
The sessions — with several hundred students from Toppenish High School, Lincoln Elementary in Toppenish, Harrah Elementary and White Swan High School — are part of the fifth annual Latin Music Celebration, organized through The Seasons and Yakima Valley Community College.
Workshops in the Lower Valley schools end today.
But the celebration continues next week with workshops at YVCC on everything from Latin guitar, salsa dancing, Afro-Cuban/Brazilian drumming, improvisation, Latin Jazz and Latin Choir music.
The celebration culminates with a grand finale concert at The Seasons from 7 to 9 p.m. May 3.
