Prosser youth club wins $8,000 grant

PROSSER -- The Prosser Boys and Girls Club is one of two of the organization's youth centers in the western United States to receive a grant from the Michael Phelps Foundation.

The $8,000 grant, plus training, materials and supplies, will support the Prosser club's im program, a curriculum designed by the foundation that awards medals for reaching goals in physical fitness, water safety courses and pool activities. Club organizers also may form a swim team that would hold "virtual" meets, comparing times with other clubs throughout the world.

The club is next door to the Prosser pool and EJ Miller Park. It has 189 members.
