More than three decades after his death, Elvis Presley still inspires a certain subset of people to put on sequined jumpsuits and sing.
This is odd, surely.
But it's nice to know that even 33 years after Elvis "left the building," you can still catch a performance of his work by someone who kind of looks and/or sounds like him. In Danny Vernon's case, it's both: He kind of looks AND sounds like Elvis.
The Seattle-based Elvis impersonator has played casinos, private parties and clubs throughout the Pacific Northwest and has recorded several CDs. He sets himself apart in the crowded (weird) field of Elvis impersonators by combining all three decades of the king's career, from his early rockabilly stuff to the lounge-act stuff he did in the 1970s.
Vernon is bringing the show "Illusions of Elvis" to The Seasons Performance Hall at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets cost $15, or $30 for VIP seats. For more information, call 509-453-1888 or visit www.theseasonsyakima.com.
