There's gospel music you bow your head and cry with, and then there's gospel music you stand up and move with.
Yvette Williams can do both, but she'd rather do the latter, which she calls "uplifting, encouraging, high-spirited gospel music." Williams, born and raised in Yakima, picked up four Grammy nominations over the years as a member of the Kurt Carr Singers and has now returned to Yakima and is working on a solo project.
You can catch her Sunday at The Seasons Performance Hall, where she may knock down a few pews with the pure power of her voice. Williams has played The Seasons before -- she's also played Carnegie Hall and the White House -- and still this upcoming performance has her excited.
"I told my mom just yesterday, it feels like I'm waiting for Christmas," Williams says. "It's like I'm going to open up a gift."
Williams will be joined by the Heart of David Band and a few selected local singers. The show begins at 6 p.m. at The Seasons, 101 N. Naches Ave. Tickets cost $15 and are available at the door or 509-453-1888.
