YAKIMA -- A West Valley High School senior will be competing in the Washington Food Industry Association's annual Best Bagger Championship Finals.
Cole Brown, 18, is grocery bagger at Wray's Food and Drug of Yakima.
He's one of 10 contestants competing for the $1,500 grand prize and title of Best Bagger of Washington State.
The winner will get the chance to compete in the "national bag-off," sponsored by the National Grocers Association in February in Las Vegas.
Meantime, the statewide event takes place from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Doubletree Hotel in Sea-Tac. It will be emceed by Washington State Lt. Governor Brad Owen.
Founded in 1899, WFIA is the only Washington state-based grocery industry association. It's dedicated to promoting and protecting the independent, community-focused grocery industry and its suppliers.
