SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- An unidentified man was rushed to a hospital this afternoon after firefighters freed his head from being pinned between a wheel and frame of a front-end loader.
It’s not clear how the man got his head stuck between the large wheel and frame of the loader while working at Pioneer Commodities at 317 E. Warehouse Avenue, said Sunnyside Fire Chief Aaron Markham, who said he didn’t have the name of the injured man.
The man’s condition could not immediately be obtained.
Loaders were being used to move rail cars at the time of the accident, he said.
"I don’t know if somebody was driving (the loader) or if it rolled on its own," he said. "I don’t know if there was something under the loader that he was trying to look at."
Markham described the man as in his mid 20s, and said he was unconscious when firefighters arrived about 3 p.m.
The man was regaining consciousness and breathing on his own at the time he was taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital, he said.
