NORTHPORT, Wash. — Six people, including two from Yakima, were hospitalized Saturday night in Stevens County when the driver of a car drifted into the opposite lane a struck a pickup just south of town.

About 7:05 p.m., Otto V. Sieber, 73, of Yakima was driving a 1996 Ford Mustang north on State Route 25, when he crossed the center line and struck a 2005 Dodge pickup driven by Kenneth R. Collins, 30, of Airway Heights, Wash., according to a Washington State Patrol news release.

Sieber was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, where he was in serious condition, a nursing supervisor said Sunday.

His passenger, Sean P. Sieber, 11, also of Yakima, was taken to Providence St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chewelah, Wash., where he was treated and releases, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Neither was wearing a seat belt, the State Patrol said.

Collins and his three passengers, Jeannine M. Collins, 30, Alyssa M. Collins, 5, and Kaylie Collins, 1, all were taken to Providence St. Joseph Hospital, where they were treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

They all were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol said.

It’s unknown if alcohol and or drugs were a factor in the accident. Possible charges are pending, the State Patrol said.
