From the Yakima Herald-Republic Online News.
The 2,000-acre Cowiche Canyon Conservancy property doesn't look like much from afar.
It's a bunch of dry brush, right?
But get closer and you'll start to notice wildflowers, birds, lizards, squirrels -- a whole world of nature that can be appreciated almost immediately once you stop to look at it. That world will be highlighted in an exhibit opening Thursday at Allied Arts of Yakima.
The "Cowiche Canyon Juried Exhibit" features work inspired by and focused on the conservancy landscape and environment. There will be painting, sculpture, fine-art prints and mixed-media work.
The show opens with a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday and runs until Oct. 28. Proceeds from art sales will benefit Allied Arts as well as the conservancy. Allied Arts is open Mondays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
