Film highlights watershed restoration

A Yakama tribal member recently received an honorable mention and was awarded $200 in a watershed restoration film contest.

Emily Washines, 29, received an honorable mention for "Return of the Wapato," which focused on the return of a duck that had been absent from the Yakama reservation for 70 years.

She was one of seven honored in the Stories From Our Watersheds film contest, short films that highlight watershed restoration projects in the Northwest. A total of $4,100 was awarded to winners.

The contest was sponsored by Ecotrust, the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, the Pacific Northwest Region of the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management.
