Wapato man faces charges in knife attack

ZILLAH, Wash. -- Bail was set at $100,000 Monday for a 24-year-old Wapato man booked for first-degree assault in connection with a knife attack early Saturday at a Zillah bar.

According to a Zillah Police Department news release, the suspect assaulted a man in the men's restroom of the Stonehenge Tavern, 603 N. First Ave, at 12:55 a.m. According to an arrest affidavit, Diaz tried to cut his throat.

The victim, identified in the arrest affidavit as David R. Humphreys, "received minor, non-life-threatening injuries," according to the Zillah police release.

The suspect made a preliminary appearance Monday in Yakima County Superior Court, where he is expected to be charged later this week.
