YAKIMA -- The Central Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has appointed Pedro Hernandez as its interim executive director.

Hernandez, 34, operates H & B Packaging/Fresh Pack Northwest, a Yakima business that manufactures packing materials for the agricultural industry.

Hernandez replaces Bertha Alicia Garza, who stepped down after her full-time job demanded more of her time.

There is no timeline for hiring a permanent director, said Tony Sandoval, a member for the chamber's board of directors.
