ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- Zirkle Fruit has agreed to make a $12,500 donation to an Ellensburg nonprofit company that provides heating devices to low-income households to settle outdoor burning violations.

In November 2008, Zirkle Fruit was cited for burning prohibited materials, too much material at once and for burning outside allowable hours, according to a state Department of Ecology news release.

To resolve the violations, Zirkle will make the donation to HopeSource, which provides clean-burning wood stoves and home heating devices to low-income households throughout Kittitas County.

The money will allow people to swap their older wood stoves for more energy efficient ones that emit less pollution.
