VBS set at Selah Nazarene

Selah Church of the Nazarene will hold Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 9-13 for kids ages 3-12.

Taize prayer service at St. Michael's

St. Michael's Episcopal Church will offer its monthly Taize prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday.

There will be a rehearsal at 6 p.m. Musicians are encouraged to bring instruments and accompany the meditative singing.

Recycle for the needy today

Today is recycling day at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Proceeds will benefit Feeding Five Thousand.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church parking lot. Newspapers, magazines, catalogs, phone books and aluminum cans will be collected.

Feeding Five Thousand is a program in conjunction with Children of the Nations in which meals of lentils, rice, spices, dehydrated vegetables and chicken are packaged.

The meals are sent to children in the organization's centers in Uganda, Malawi, Sierra Leone and the Dominican Republic.

All-ages Bible school is next week

Summitview Christian Reformed Church will host Family Vacation Bible School for all ages from 6-8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

A light supper will be served from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

Wesley United filling preschool spots

Wesley United Methodist Church is enrolling preschool students for the 2010-2011 school year

The curriculum is strongly rooted in the academic and social preparation of students for kindergarten. It also encourages Christian morals and ethics.

There is also a Stay N play program that allows a child to stay after morning classes or come before afternoon classes.

Guest to speak at Mount Olive

Mount Olive Lutheran Church will host special guest Robin Dugall at its 9 a.m. service Sunday. He will also hold a Bible study class at 10:15 a.m.

Dugall has over 35 years of professional ministry experience as a pastor, musician, teacher, professor, camping and student ministry leader. He is project director of the Faith Communities Project at Friendship Celebration Lutheran Church in Meridian, Idaho, and an adjunct professor of biblical studies at Azusa Pacific University in Southern California.

Buy a pizza, help the Valley's kids

Love INC of Yakima is holding a fundraiser for school supplies at Abby's Pizza from 4-10 p.m. Monday.

A percentage of the purchase of pizzas will go toward school supplies for kids in the Yakima Valley. They will be distributed by churches who are partnering with the ministry.

VBS heading for the 'High Seas'

Zillah Nazarene Church will host a weeklong "High Seas Adventure" Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8:45 p.m. Monday through Friday.

All kids age 4 through sixth grade are invited.

Parker Heights schedules VBS

Parker Heights Presbyterian Church will hold a Vacation Bible School from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 9-12.

The theme is "High Seas Expedition: Exploring the Mighty Love of God." It's for children ages 4-10.

Peace Lutheran Church in Selah will host a Vacation Bible School from 9 to 11:45 a.m. Aug. 9-13.

All kids going into kindergarten through sixth grade are invited. The theme: "Who is God." Snacks will be served.
