Brandt Gibbons and Helene Boitano watch. The park, at which dogs can be let off their leash, was originally located further north on the Yakima Greenway but was moved to it's present location about 6 months ago. The park will be officially re-dedicated Saturday, May 22, 2010 in a celebration from noon-3 p.m. After the former leash-free park near the Yakima River was destroyed by flooding last year Greenway officials used the opportunity to move the park south to the Sherman Park location. Because the move was flood-related, part of the cost was paid for by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the rest by the Greenway, according to Greenway executive director Al Brown. The park is fenced and includes picnic tables, benches and a foot bridge over a creek in the dog park. Boitano owns Kaili.
