YAKIMA - Judy M. Weston (70) passed away on May 2, 2010 at home in the loving presence of her family. (my sunshine)

Her battle with leukemia has ended. Judy will forever be a shining example to us all.

Judy was born in Seattle, Washington on October 16, 1939 to William and Agnes (Nielsen) Manning. She was raised in the Burien area where she graduated from Highline High School in 1957.

On December 13, 1958 she married her junior high school sweetheart, Gary Weston and together they raised four children; over the years living in Ellensburg, Sunnyside, Yakima, and Lacey, settling back in Yakima in 1981.

Judy retired from the Department of Ecology where she served as an office administrator and legal secretary, working on the Yakima River system adjudication.

There are many wonderful memories of family gathering: including camping, hiking, & sailing. She loved to travel and over the years ventured to Denmark, Peru, Mexico, and Russia & all over the western states; including two road trips to Alaska. In 2008 Judy and Gary took a honeymoon cruise through the Panama Canal to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

Judy enjoyed spending time in Packwood, where she appreciated being in the mountains. She enjoyed taking walks with her husband and their dogs Lizzie and Buster. She was very creative and loved doing various craft projects.

Judy was a very caring person and will be missed by all who knew her.

Judy is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gary W. Weston, daughters Carol West (Jack), Kally Marquis (Rocky), Carrie Beitel (Barry), and a son Aaron Weston (Mark); grandchildren Krystal (Ron), Brandon (Monica), Josh, Spencer, Sarah, Joshua, Patrick, Dominick, Derrick, Cole; great-grandchildren Iziah, Billy Zane, Zach, Austin and Skylee (due July 2010); brothers Mike Manning (Bev) and Bill Manning (Ruth); and a wonderful extended family.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on June 5 at The Stone Church in Yakima.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to YVCC Foundation, PO Box 22520, Yakima, WA 98907, for a nursing student scholarship in memory of Judy Weston.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Ha and the staff at North Star, all of her nurses and caregivers at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, and the staff at the Lower Valley Hospice for their loving care and attention to our treasured Judy, Mom, & Grandma.
