YAKIMA, Wash. -- A public meeting to receive comments on the regional stormwater management program is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Street Conference Center, 223 N. First St. in Yakima.

The program was developed by Yakima County in conjunction with the cities of Yakima, Union Gap and Sunnyside.

The program is required under the storm- water permit issued by the Washington state Department of Ecology.

Stormwater is moisture from rain and snowmelt that runs off parking lots and structures that carries pollutants to streams and lakes.

The program outlines activities the county and cities will undertake to protect water quality.
