YAKIMA, Wash. -- A call about a loud party Wednesday ended in a search warrant and with one partygoer facing a possible felony assault charge.

The incident began at 11:33 p.m. when police received a complaint about a loud party in the 300 block of East P Street, said Lt. Mike Merryman of the Yakima Police Department.

According to Merryman, officers heard arguing inside the residence in response to their arrival,  then the distinctive sound of a semiautomatic pistol being “racked.”

Three occupants of the house fled shortly after that, telling officers that another occupant armed with a pistol had warned them not to answer the door.

Merryman said officers then got an emergency search warrant and eventually entered the residence, arresting a 20-year-old man inside.

The suspect was subsequently booked into the Yakima County jail on suspicion of first-degree assault as well as false imprisonment and firearms violations.
