Local 4-H public speakers honored
Nineteen Yakima County 4-H members were recognized for their public speaking skills at a contest March 12-13 at Zillah Middle School.
They are now qualified to compete at the 4-H State Fair in Puyallup, Wash. The top scorers are also invited to the 2010 4-H Trophy Contest at the Central Washington State Fair.
The winners were:
Senior Division -- Kelsey Hyvonen of Yakima and Katie Johnston-Newman of White Swan.
Intermediate Division -- Theresa Barney of Wapato, Emily George of Moxee, Katie Dick and Morelia Maravilla of Harrah, Christopher Jones and Vanessa Jones of Naches, Sophia Bos of Grandview, Kirsten Scott of Sunnyside, Joshua Cermack, Cassie Euper, Rebecca Wiseman, Colleen Ferry, Shannon Ferry, Amy Peterson and Alyssa Miller of Yakima.
Junior Division: Tabby Campos of Wapato and Emily Linder of Union Gap.
