Yakima city attorney to seek District Court judgeship

YAKIMA, Wash. -- A Yakima assistant city attorney says he is planning to run for Yakima County District Court judge.

In a news release, Bronson Faul said he will formally announce for the seat currently held by Judge Ralph Thompson during a press conference Friday at the SunDome.

A former county prosecutor, Faul has been a city prosecutor since 2005. He said he mainly handles criminal cases but has also worked on civil issues as well.

The annoucement sets up a contested race with Thompson, a District Court judge since 2008 who said last week he plans to seek re-election in November.
